Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine, a highly addictive organic compound found in tobacco that can harm parts of an adolescent’s brain that control attention, learning, mood and impulse control.
E-cigarettes, or vapes, are the most commonly used tobacco product among youth in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), with more than one million students currently using e-cigarettes. More than 400,000 of those students are in middle school while 7% of them are in high school.
