Missouri sees drop in overdose deaths, but fentanyl remains key factor

Nearly two thousand Missourians died of an overdose last year, which is a decrease from previous years, but fentanyl is still playing a major role.

As the number one leading cause of death among adults ages 18 to 44 in Missouri, lawmakers are questioning what needs to be done.

From 2022 to 2023, paramedics used naloxone more than six thousand times.

The Department of Mental Health wants to remind you that if you or someone you love is suffering from a substance use disorder or a crisis, you can call 988 to find resources near you.
