Idaho House votes unanimously to legalize fentanyl test strips

The Idaho House of Representatives voted unanimously Wednesday to pass a bill that would legalize the use of fentanyl test strips.

Fentanyl test strips are small strips of paper that can detect fentanyl in drugs or other substances.

Under current Idaho law, fentanyl test strips are classified as drug paraphernalia and illegal. But if House Bill 441 becomes law, fentanyl test strips would no longer be classified as drug paraphernalia.

“… Testing equipment used, intended for use, or designed for use in identifying whether a controlled substance contains fentanyl, a fentanyl analog, or any derivative thereof shall not be considered drug paraphernalia,” the bill states.
