IN: Bringing kratom over state lines could end in jail time

Although kratom isn’t considered a hard drug, Indiana law enforcement say they treat the substance the same as if it were cocaine or marijuana.

Sheriff Bruce Vanoven of the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says, “If it’s in the state law saying it’s illegal then we’re going to seek it out, we’re going to find it, and we’re going to arrest people for it.”

Indiana is one of six states banning the substance.
