Doctor-Shopping is a term used to define individuals that visit multiple physicians to obtain controlled substances, either identical or of like therapeutic value, and withhold information from a practitioner from whom the person seeks to obtain a controlled substance or a prescription for a controlled substance that the person making the request has received a controlled substance or a prescription for a controlled substance of like therapeutic use from another practitioner within the previous 30 days.
Often times individual that are doctor shopping will present physicians with fraudulent complaints, medical records, or material information in their quest for drugs.
